Psychodrome

Experimental VR project that creates a unique connection between the user and their avatar.

Intro
Psychodrome is an experimental VR project that creates a unique connection between the user and their avatar. The avatar has an artificial nervous system and has autonomous reactions to in-game events. When in "fight or flight" the player character's breathing, hand tremor, internal monologue and so on will be affected. These reactions can also affect objects held in the avatars hands, such as the weight of the object, or the ease of using it. In order to manage these effects the player can breathe slowly, and their breathing is captured in the headset microphone using an audio AI. By soothing the player character's reactions, the player starts to build a different understanding of their role in the game world. Although extreme violence is a possible pathway of character progression, so are spiritual and even supernatural outcomes.
